Coaches To Away Games – Let Us Do The Driving

For the game at Bristol on Friday 26th November the coach will leave Franklin’s Gardens at 3.30pm for the 7.45pm kickoff. Seats on the coach are available and can be booked via our website:

The Harlequins away league game is now confirmed for Monday 27th December at 5pm. It’s at Twickenham, not at the Stoop, as part of a double-header that sees the Harlequins ladies team take on the Wasps ladies. We are still waiting to confirm the coach times and prices for this, but as soon as we have the details we will let you all know. However, it’s likely that we will only be aiming to get there in time for the men’s’ game. The Monday is a bank holiday, as is the next day, so no worries about being late home and having to go to work the next day.

After an 18-month break it has taken us a bit of time to get back into the swing of running coaches again so up to now they have all been a single price. Starting in the new year we will be reintroducing the discounted fares for Supporters Club members.

Unless otherwise advised, the pick-up point for coaches will be the “tackle statue” in the VIP car park at Franklin’s Gardens.

We are not running a coach to the away game at Harlequins on Friday 19th November for the Premiership Cup game as there is not enough demand for it.

The Christmas Draw

Unfortunately, we have had to cancel this year’s Supporters Club Christmas Draw. As with so many other organisations, the Coronavirus situation has had an effect on our finances, and with the possibility of some restrictions on indoor gatherings being reimposed we’d can’t risk any outlay only to find that it has to be cancelled at the last minute.

We do however have plans for a Centenary event later in the season.

Royal British Legion Poppies

We have been selling poppies at the last two home homes and will do so again from the table in the Rodber Suite on Saturday 13th November. The table will be manned between 2pm-3pm, then again for 30 minutes after the final whistle.

We will be selling the traditional paper poppies, 2021 enamel poppy pins and British legion Centenary poppy pins. We also have limited stocks of rugby ball poppy pins in blue (Scotland), red (Wales) and Green (Ireland). For some reason the white ones for England have all sold out!

Cash sales only, and we don’t have any change.

Each year we get asked about the poppy badges that are paired with the Saints badge. We don’t have any of those but they are now available via the official on-line Poppy Shop…

Saints in Belfast

On Friday 17th December the Saints travel to Belfast to take on Ulster at the Kingspan Stadium, with an 8pm kickoff.

The last time we played over there was back in 2012 and, for pre and post-match drinks, we had an invite from Malone Rugby Club. It was a great place to go and it’s only a 10-15 minute walk from the Kingspan.

They have extended the invitation again so if you are travelling over to Belfast for that match do pay them a visit…

Premiership Supporters Clubs

This season the supporters clubs/associations from the Premiership teams have been liaising to share their views and to pass on information for visiting supporters. For many of the games so far played we have swapped pennants with many of our opposite numbers.

Membership Packs

For all those who applied to join the Saints Supporters Club by 29th September: your memberships packs will be available for collection from our table in the Rodber Suite on Saturday 2nd October. The table will be manned between 12.30pm-1.30pm, and then again after the final whistle for half an hour or so. Any not collected on Saturday will posted out.

The packs include your membership card, year badge, car sticker and welcome letter.

For our Centenary season we have gone back to the Saints Supporters Club badge that was in use from at least the 1950s up until the mid-1990s. Why it fell out of use is a mystery as many of our records from that period no longer exist. We think that you will like it

Here’s the new badge and the old version. Our thanks go to Paul Green for the loan of the original.

We also have some badges from most seasons as far back as 15 years ago – if you have lost one and want a replacement let us know.

The Saints Foundation

Joining us at the table in the Rodber Suite this week will be a couple of people from the Saints Foundation; selling raffle tickets and explaining what the Foundation does. Take time to have a chat with them when you collect your membership pack.

They will be there on various occasions throughout the season.

Coaches To Away Games

We have made a significant loss on some away coaches in the last few years, which is something that cannot continue without putting the future of the Supporters Club at risk. For this season some of the less well supported away coaches may not run; the trip down to Exeter last week being one example as only eight people expressed an interest in it.

For the game at Wasps, the coach will leave Franklin’s Gardens at 12.30pm. A few seats remain available on that at the time of writing and can be booked via our website:

Some members made enquiries about this at the last home game – if you were one of them and have not followed that up with a definite booking please do so as soon as possible.

Coaches for Sale and Bristol should be available to book shortly.

The Harlequins away game will be on either 26th or 27th December. If it’s on the 26th then there will be no trains running to/from Twickenham. The Quin website suggests that kickoff is at 5pm on the 27th at the Stoop, but that is not confirmed in either the Saints or Gallagher Premiership websites. As soon as we can guarantee the time and date of the match, we will be in touch to let you know about coaches.

Unless otherwise advised, the pick-up point for coaches will be the “tackle statue” in the VIP car park at Franklin’s Gardens

News from Jimmy’s End

The chip shop opposite the ground is open again under new management and is far better than its last incarnation a couple of years ago when the quality went downhill rapidly. If it used to be your pre or post-match port of call you may wish to try it again.

Barclay’s Bank closed at the start of the year and its cash machine was removed. The nearest machines now are in the wall of the mini-market on the corner of Weedon Road and Bruce Street and in the wall of the store at St James Square. As all outlets within Franklin’s Gardens now only accept card payments that may not be so much of an issue as it once would have been – but it’s still useful to know.

The bus lane running towards town along Weedon Road and St James Road is currently full time, so don’t venture into it unless you wish to get a ticket. There is talk of it reverted to its previous morning rush-hour only hours but don’t get caught out in the meantime.

Royal British Legion Poppies

In the lead up to Remembrance Day, the Supporters Club hope to once again be selling poppies from the table in the Rodber Suite.

Each year we get asked about the poppy badges that are paired with the Saints badge. We won’t have any of those but they are now available via the official on-line Poppy Shop…
